我沒找到這句話的出處，但有查到好幾個 ”the whole nine yards”的意思：
其一是”…The whole nine yards or full nine yards is a colloquial American phrase meaning ‘everything, the whole lot’ or, when used as an adjective, ‘all the way’, as in, ‘ The Army came out and gave us the whole nine yards on how they use space systems…’.
其二是”…More recently, the term's come to mean encouragement for you to persevere when the going's getting tough…”
