My GE electric oven is not heating up to temperature.?
I set the temp for 500 degrees, the lower heating unit comes on, turns red, but then never gets close to the 500 degree setting. The unit is 17 years old and I've never had an problem with it. The controls are all electronic. Any ideas?

There is no disk in the optical drive and I have to use a pin in the pinhole to open the drive door. I've taken the battery off and rebooted with just AC power, no dice. I got nothing on the screen, no flash, no text, no nothing. The only idiot light on the display that is hot is the one showing the machine is trying to use the optical drive(CD/DVD). No other indicator lights flash or come on. Any ideas?

The Kennedy 50 cent piece has a bright, shiny dot in the matte finish area of the neck on the profile side, pretty much in the dead center. I would say its 1-2 millimeters in diameter. I compared it to other proof sets and they do not have the spot.
