im wondering if anyone knows what the mushroom or egg do? and is there any point to the runestone....

There is no possible use for the mushroom or the egg. With a rune-stone and a full plate you can make a rune-plate (adds to Magic 20 points); it requires at least 130 points in creation skill. You can also combine a silver ring with a rune-stone and you will get a ring that adds some bonus to every form of magic.
