If there is always time to do things over, why is there never the time to do them right in the first place?

Not doing something right in the first place has a few features. Impatience often causes people to rush. We are a culture that does not wait and a culture that promotes immediate gratification. Slow down, take your time is my encouragement for anyone hoping to avoid mistakes.

Not having enough time is a perception about how the world and time works. I have decades to accomplish everything and anything before my death. Managing our time (a human concern) is also a skill that anyone can learn.

That is the argument at every manufacturing company where I have worked. We have or put on a timeline that we have to do something. Then when it is wrong, the emphasis is on getting it right and not what time it takes. It is a matter of priority and not time.

Do you work for the same organization that I do? I often ask this same question. Apparently it is against company policy to do things right the first time.

i agree with the first poster. there is not always time to do things over. how would you know whether it is right or not? how would you learn what to do next time? i think mistakes(some mistakes) are necessary.

sounds like my job. everything is rush rush rush rush. then when the rush job is fugged up, they're doing it over when in fact more time should have been taken on the front end to make sure quality was the end result.

There is not always time to do things over and please define right? There is no such thing as right.

Because there are --way-- too many 'Harvard MBAs' running things.
